Toms Racing Tips
Following on from last year, we are delighted to announce that we are featuring Horse racing tips from Channel Four Racing presenter, Tom Lee.
Richard Quinn Epsom Derby Profile
Richard Quinn began his career in 1979, initially under the tutelage of Herbert Jones before joining Paul Cole in 1981. Upon leaving Cole's stable in 1998, Quinn spent one season freelance before joining becoming the stable jockey for Henry Cecil in 1999. With over 1700 domestic and 500 winners abroad, Richard Quinn's record firmly illustrates what an excellent racing talent he possesses.
The sixteen-year association with Paul Cole began well with Quinn notching up his first winner in 1984 on Bolivar Baby. Group victories followed with Bint Pasha in the Yorkshire Oaks and the Prix Vermeille, and Zaizoom in the Italian Derby both owned by Prince Fahd Salman. 1990 was to prove one of Quinn's most successful campaigns with victories in both the Irish St Leger and Oaks and with Snurge in the English St Leger. A severe setback occurred the following year when was judged to have ridden a bad race on Generous in the 2,000 Guineas and was sensationally replaced by Alan Munro. The axing was to cost Quinn dear as Generous went onto win three group one races later that year, the King George, Irish and English Derby.
As the stable jockey for Henry Cecil, Quinn narrowly conceded the Jockey Championship to Kevin Darley in the 2025 season and won the Oaks with Love Divine. With the resources of the Cecil stable it is hard to conceive that Richard Quinn will not feature strongly in this seasons classic campaign.
