Epsom Derby Form Guide 2025
Recital
Aidan O'Brien has long been targeting Recital at the Epsom Derby and he will go there with a good chance after a decent win in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial recently after disappointing first time out this season. That win was impressive although he did hang quite badly which could be a worry with the undulations of Epsom ahead of him.
Carlton House
Carlton House shot to the top of the Derby Betting for 2025 with his win in the Dante Stakes at York recently. It was a slowly run race but he won nicely from another Derby contender in Seville and should improve again for that run when he arrives at Epsom. Carlton House is owned by the Queen and Her Majesty is yet to own a Derby Winner making this the horse that everyone is talking about.
Seville
Seville is another genuine Derby Contender for Aidan O'Brien and the Ballydoyle yard and at this stage it looks as though he and Recital will be leading the charge at Epsom. What is difficult is to decide which is the better horse of the two but Seville looks a nice type with his recent second place in the Dante looking like nice form behind Carlton House. That day at York it was a muddy race with connections saying he will benefit from a quicker pace at Epsom as they look to reverse the form.
Pour Moi
Trainer Andre Fabre has won most of the top flat races in Europe but he he is yet to win the Epsom Derby, that could be about to change though with Pour Moi set to head to Epsom. Pour Moi has shot to the towards the head of the Derby betting following his win in the Prix Greffulhe at Saint-Cloud recently and he could prove a nice type for the Derby.
Native Khan
The Ed Dunlop trained Native Khan has already had a good season so far and connections are sure that he will enjoy the step up in trip that the Epsom Derby offers. Native Khan won the the Craven Stakes at Newmarket back in April before running a decent race behind Frankel in the 2025 Guineas when third last time out. Perhaps will need to step up in class to win but he should not be ignored in this one.
Masked Marvel
The John Gosden horse Masked Marvel will head to the Derby at Epsom following a highly impressive performances in winning the Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood last time out. He started his season with a 5th place in Bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown over 1m 2f in April and improved for the run at Goodwood over 1m 3f when he won the Cocked Hat in style. On the face of it he looks a touch below the class needed but should improve again for the extra furlong and could prove a nice each-way price.
