Toms Racing Tips
Following on from last year, we are delighted to announce that we are featuring Horse racing tips from Channel Four Racing presenter, Tom Lee.
Slip Anchor
Trained by Henry Cecil, owned by Lord Howard de Walden, Slip Anchor raced twice as a two-year-old winning one race in the process. The following year was to be much more successful winning three races including the Epsom Derby and finishing in the first three in all of his six races.
Under Steve Cauthen, Slip Anchor performed exceptionally in the 1985 Derby, the thirteen lengths between Slip Anchor and Damister is still the record distance between winner and the third. Slip Anchor's victory was an exceptionally fast time, the timefigure of 1.70 was the best recorded over any distance during that season. Slip Anchor only raced once as a four year old, finishing second, and a little over one year after winning the Derby he was retired to stud.
