The form of the Lingfield Derby Trial is always worth a second glance when trying to pick the winner of the Epsom Derby as it is siad that Lingfield is the most similar of all the racecourses to hold Derby trials to Epsom, due to its undulations.
Depsite only 1998 Derby winner, High Rise, winning the Lingfield Derby trial en route to Epsom glory in recent times it has produced eight Derby winners in total in its 30 years and as Group three event over 1 mile 3 furlong it is one of the better trial races that trianers can run their Derby hopefuls in.

The Aidan O'Brien trianed Age of Aquarius won the 2025 Lingfield Derby Trial and whilst not one of the leading fancies from the six strong Ballydoyle contingent he could represent good value when considering he showed such battling qualitites on Lingfield's testing track to win back in May.
