Epsom Derby Contenders 2011 - Ocean War
Godolphin always have a strong hand in the big classic races like the Derby and this season is no different with Ocean War looking like the main hop for the boys in blue. Ocean War is trained by Mahmoon Al Zarooni for Godolphin who will be hoping to have his very first derby winner with Ocean War this weekend, the horse looks to be an improving type and is coming in for plenty of each-way money. He had just the one run as a juvenile and that was an average 5th place at Sandown but it is an a three year-old that he has progressed.

So far this season Ocean war has picked up two successive wins at Newmarket with the first coming in the Download Bluesquare App Maiden on his seasonal debut. His most impressive run was last time out when he won the Makfi Newmarket Stakes in fine style over 1m 2f with plenty in hand. That run was enough to convince many of his Derby potential with the extra trip set to suit a horse who is still learning to race, which means his supporters can expect the best of Ocean War on Saturday afternoon. Young Mickael Barzallona has been on board for his two wins this season but all the pointers suggest that Frankie Dettori will take the ride in the Derby with the horse proving to be the best chance for Godolphin.
