Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial
The Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial has become synonymous with producing leading Derby contenders each year and this Group Two event over 1 mile 2 furlongs at Leopardstown Racecourse has become the best Derby trial in Ireland and provides some useful form pointers ahead of the Epsom Derby.
The race has been the second port of call en route to Epsom for recent Irish trained English Derby winners Sinndar (2000), Galileo (2001) and High Chaparral (2002) after the Ballysax Stakes and once again in 2009, the Derrinstown Stud Stakes has produced the Derby favourite in the form of the Aidan O'Brien trained Fame and Glory and this son of Galileo will be looking to follow in his fathers footsteps after already landing the ballysax Stakes and if he does achieve Derby glory it will only further enhance the reputation of the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial.
