Epsom Derby 2000 Result
Over one hundred thousand racing and derby betting enthusiasts are estimated to have headed to Epsom for the 2000 running of the Derby. Enjoying perfect weather conditions, good to soft going, fifteen potential champions made their way to the starting positions, hoping to claim a share of the one million pounds prize money.
Johnny Murtagh aboard Sinndar eventually claimed the first prize of over £600,000, with Richard Hills on Sakhee and Richard Quinn on the favourite Beat Hollow taking second and third places. Amazingly, Sinndar was the trainer John Oxx's first Derby entrant and after securing victory he joked about retiring. The winning owner was equally impressed, with the Aga Khan thanking John Oxx and Johnny Murtagh for a magnificent effort preparing his fourth Derby winner.
