Epsom Derby Ante Post Gambles
Some of the big Epsom Derby ante post Gambles include Atlantic Waves who has been very well supported with William Hill for the Vodafone Derby. The three year old, who impressed at Leicester on debut but was subsequently beaten at Salisbury in the Group 3 skybet.com Autumn Stakes, was the subject of a major gamble and Mark Johnstone's charge, who started the day at 25-1, is now just 10-1 third favourite for the Epsom showpiece.
Hill's spokesman Ben Clarke, said: "Discreet Cat was very well backed following his two wins at Nad Al Sheba and his absence comes as another huge blow to Ante-Post punters but as soon as news of his withdrawal hit the headlines another ante-post gamble was well under way in the shape of Atlantic Waves.
We now have a similar situation to the Greek Well gamble where, despite cutting the price from 25-1 to 12-1, we were still seeing money through all channels. We have now gone 10-1, which appears to have stemmed the flow, but we haven't been the only ones to lay Atlantic Waves and would estimate that the industry faces a £2 million payout should Mark Johnston’s Colt oblige."
