2,000 Guineas Odds 2011 - Frankel Hacks Up But Likely To Swerve Epsom
Whilst a Group One Classic in its own right, the 2,000 Guineas can still be considered a trial race for the derby give that is only open to three year old Colts, many of whom run in the race with a view to stepping up the extra four furlongs in distance to take their chance in the Epsom derby a month later.
The 2,000 Guineas is run at Newmarket's Rowley Mile Racecourse on the first Saturday in May each year and is the most prestigious of all Derby Trials, given that is the the first leg of the British Class, proceeded by the Epsom Derby and later in the season, the St Leger.

2,000 Guineas Derby Form
As a guide to trying to find the winner of the Epsom Derby, the 2,000 Guineas can provide several useful pointers, although the winner of the Guineas very rarely goes on to win the Derby, the last horse to achieve this was Nashwan in 1989, however, many horses that ran in the 2,000 Guineas and got beat have gone on to win the Derby. Generous (1991), Sir Pecy (2006) and New Approach (2008) were all beaten in the 2,000 Guineas but made the transition to 1 mile 4 furlongs to win the Derby.
